Merry Christmas Eve in HK

Haven't spent my xmas in HK for many years already, well i didn't really feel so "christmas" this year, i remember the last time was better - we went to TST to watch xmas light and count down, and i rmb somebody on the street asked Ben to buy me a flower......haha, the good old times. Anyways... left the office at noon on xmas eve, then rushed back home to buy xmas gift for my cousin and some alcohol for the xmas party. Then went to my cousin's kindergarden to participate their Xmas event~ the kids are so cute... thanks them i actually felt more christmas after watching them perform and sing xmas songs. then went back to Central and met up with Ben and went to Jason's hse. We actually hesitated to go b/c jason is not home and Ben's mom won't be there as well, so we didn't know why we should go. But since i was quite curious how Jason's home look like, so i went~ and YES, HIS PENTHOUSE IS BIGGGGGGGGG AND GRAND AND EVERY ROOM HAS A SUPER SEA VIEW... one word to summarize is ---- RICH. The party ended up pretty fun~ Food was great, we played Bingo and lots of prizes as well~ then went to LKF to meet the ppl up... didn't really want to go cuz of the crowd and they're SO SLOW.... all arrived AFTER count down man.... :/

my cousin - 1st row 2nd from the right

we BBQ and dine outside on the patio... they got a BBQ stove outside the patio, so jeng

Lee Hom Concert with HKPO

Yes i went to Lee Hom concert yday night~ it was not the 1st day but basically the rundown is the same (((except we didn't get encore for 4 times :( )))...... so the above news is just like a summary of the concert~ he really looked like 千秋王子~~~~ by the way....i felt so stupid that when i bought the ticket, i didn't notice it was a crossover concert with the HK philarmonic orchestra, when i arrived i kept asking Ben why there isn't any glow sticks or bang bang stick for us?? but then when we entered the hall, i was like........errrr... why there's orchestra ppl here??? then i realized... hai wor... it's called 港樂, that means it's Lee hom with the Orchestra...-_- and that's why ppl dressed so grand..... but anyways... the show was great, the hall is not big so we are like so close to him, but it's a bit too short, only 90 mins include the intermission, so the ticket became relatively expensive. I felt sooooooooo touching when i listened him sing "Forever Love" live!!! I love that song so much and dunno why he always face our side for the whole concert, so it was like he's singing the song to me... super sweet. weeeeeeeee~ :D

from the Peak, to MK

since there's not much things to do in HK so me and ben become tourists and went to the peak yday. We took the train up and had a very relaxing lunch there. The restaurant offers sunday brunch so it attracts quite many caucasians and hikers. Unfortunately we could not afford a $500/pp buffet lunch so we ordered a la carte instead. The view of the restaurant was nice, yet it's not the best ones up there. It was actually recommended by a tour guide who was also from Canada we met on the train. He was wondering why two hongers acted so much like tourists but speak fluent Cantonese.... lol.

Then went to the Madame Tussauds wax museum and spent quite awhile inside. I think the best part of the museum was we can spend a lot of time inside taking silly pictures. Also went to the "dunno-why-there-is-a-haunted-house" haunted house inside, well it was actually scarier than the ones in Ocean Park!!
After spending the whole afternoon in the peak, we returned down to earth and had our dinner at MongKok. Although somebody just dropped two bottle of poison detergent the day before, MK still has a million ppl on the street. From the peak to MK, once again we experienced the contradiction of HK....

food poisoning (?)

felt a bit sick and wanted to throw up, thought i caught a cold so "very cleverly" had two panadol in the office, although it's the non-drownsy one i started "fishing" in the office from 9:30am to 12~ but since i got nth to do as well, i sat there and fell into sleep...LOL~ then felt no better so i went straight home and slept for few hrs again. Started to have symptoms of diarrhea in the late afternoon and went to see doctor. Doctor first asked if i'm pregnant, LOL, he said he had to ask that question to women who have symptoms of nausea wor... then he said maybe i ate some bacteria from my hotpot at "little fat sheep" but i am not really sure cuz it had been 2 days already. so later that whole night and the day after I at least went to "orrr" 10x times.... and as a result the excess water in my body are gone and my face became "sharp" again :> .... thanks for Mr. Virus in a positive way.

12.04.2008

Had my 1st and (probably) last Xmas party in Credit Suisse on the announcement day of "Credit Suisse to Eliminate 5,300 Jobs After Losses". The rumor of laying off had been going on for a week already, ppl just dunno the actual number of eliminations. Now it's confirmed that it'll eliminate all the contract staff (about 1,400 ppl, including me -_-) and 5,300 full time staff, mainly from the Investment Banking division (which is the division i'm in -_-). I wasn't that surprised that my contract won't be extend, because it's already been anticipated. But I was surprised that the managing director actually called me and apologized to me, saying that they're facing a lot of pressure for the headcounts that's why they need to make the decision. In fact I didn't feel upset at all, b/c it's not something I want to do, but I was just a bit disappointed about losing the high salary v__v, also making me to consider to go back to Canada for awhile.....

anyways... although ppl are feeling upset in the office, we had our Xmas party yday! it was pretty fun and it's my first time to drink that much.... I'm still feeling so dizzy today..... @_@

1 month passed, 2 months to go

super quiet at work, i'm like doing nothing everyday.... pretend to work everyday but actually surfing on web until my eyes get really tired. I know December is used to be very quiet since most bankers just wrapping up the year end and start returning to their own countries for the holiday season; plus this year the whole industry is in deep trouble so the situation is getting worse. My job is like providing assistance to bankers like making travel arrangement and claiming expenses, but since those bankers are not travelling anywhere for business, I got nth to do as well. I'm like just sitting here and being so unproductive. I want to work and I want to learn!!! btw I just got my first paid cheque yday and I'm worried if i'll be laid off really soon..... like my contract is ending in 2 months, and I don't think the market will turn any better before that.... this feeling is scary.

anyways... hotpot with terence in Wan Chai on wed and had dessert in Yuen Long w/ him again yday. Terence whined about his job and his boss and Mike whined about his job and wants to return to Canada as well. I totally understand Mike's situation, his job is really not easy to do and hard to make money now...... He could be making a lot of money 1 or 2 yrs ago, but now, totally different story. The HSBC branch in my building only has few clients for the whole afternoon. You can imagine how bad the situation is now....

afterall, i believe it's only a cycle and psychology thing, people are actually holding a lot of cash, when they heard the big sale in Sogo and other stores, they get crazy and spend again. btw, I bought a lot on the Sogo appreciation day too, cuz the price is too attractive, and step is not beside me.. haha

11.22.2008

window shopping

went to drink tea w/ Adam for his every-three-months visit to hk~ (((to avoid participating the army in TW.....))) he said he wants to eat sth local, so we wanted to bring him to the famous "Australia Milk Company", which is a HK-style cafe in Jordon but the line-up was too long, so we brought him to drink tea instead. Then me met with Step to shopping and left the boys behind~ Step was actually "buying" stuff in Gucci and lucky I stopped her!! then we (window)shopped in TST, saw 2 delicious handbags, but tooooo expensive and Step discouraged me for buying ANYTHING, even worse than BEN!!!!!!!!!! so..... me of cuz ended up 得个恨字. -_-

hi baby

bye baby

-_-

11.18.2008

byebye summer for 2 days

finally the weather becomes more "wintery"~ news said tmr LOWEST will be around 15C wor~ YES! finally can wear my leather jacket (((for one or two days ONLY since it will go back up to 26C in weekend -_-))) gotta wear it more otherwise such a waste of $$$ -_-. last time i wore a short sleeve inside + the jacket, i was sweating while walking outside during my lunch!! so freaking stupid long lasting summer in HKKKKK....... :(

so work boring as usual, although i'm enjoying it, i'm worried they are not gonna extend my contract after 3 months!!! what should i do??? pretend working everyda ........ so unproductive!!!

11.17.2008

海嘯下被裁员

frightening news everyday saying "how many company is going to fire how many people today!!" It's only been one yr and seems like the whole world has changed up-side down. One year ago we were talking about inflation: house price , food price, stock price.... etc, skyrocketed. Now we have a very special term in HK: "Tsunami Price"!! Everything is on sale and stores say "they want money not the stock"!!! So I really feel lucky that i can get a job at this moment, if i'm still sitting at home i guess i'll be so discouraged that i will just pack my stuff back to Canada and go back to work in Primerica - my lovely home :) as i said I always ask myself if i want to have a leisure life earning little money, or want a more struggled life but potentially earning more money? I guess I've chosen the path for now, and my fate has chosen me, so i shall continue to move on.

Let see what happens 3 months later. (since my contract is only 3 months now) @v@.

11.13.2008

went to H&M yesterday during lunch time with my colleage because we heard a new collection, which is H&M cross-over with Comme des Garcon was released, i thought it has been a long time already since I've seen many times on magazines, and the designs are too IN that they're not my cup of tea. So when i entered the shop during lunch time, i was like........why so many ppl? where's the new collection?? then i saw whole bunch of ppl surrending the area right on the door, so i tried to squeeze in and see how GOOD are those stuff la, but all left there was the black/dark navy blue wool knit which costs $499~~ me and my colleage was like... err... totally not worth at all. Then we searched over the store and finally saw the main "character" of the collection -- polka dot, but only at the window display and on the shoppers' hand~ they're all gone already, lol

Working la

omg it has been two weeks since my last update!

Officially I've started working for a week already, so that's why i dun have much spare time to do everything I used to do when I was unemployed....lol, so gotta update everything during the weekend~~ long story.......haha, hopefully I have time to write them all out la~~~

11.03.2008

有工返喇~

Had two job interviews today, very very tired..... but I'm very happy that they both confirmed to hire me :)

but now.........which one should i choose???

really need to think thoroughly :/

Halloween in HK

Went to see lawyer with my grandma for some issues. The lawyer looks 95% alike to 侧田 and he's so talkative and funny. He even know how to "read your face", the things he said was soooo true!!!! It's actually a good thing because he made my grandma feels so much better and relax. So funny that at the end of the meeting I couldn't stop asking him if 侧田 is his brother!!! Dinner with Edward and Jason. Ed's back for only less than a week for his police interview and he's leaving on Sunday. But i guess he's not a passed police yet because he's so careless that someone opened his bag and stole his DC!!! So we went to eat 大閘蟹 in Wan Chai since all of us wanted to try it~

Yeahhhhh.... I'm gonna eat you!!
(((But I asked an expert to open for me cuz i dunno how to do it!!)))

Yeah, ready to eat!! The "crab paste" is sooo good !!!

After 45 mins or more, finally finished it......... -_-

when i was on my way home, i saw soooooooooooooooooooooooo many ppl approaching Lan Kwai Fong and i realized today is Halloween!!! but when i see the crowd, i only feel so HORRIBLE...... chi sin ga mei........-_-

Job Interview

Had a pretty interesting job interview today, well not the interview was interesting, but the job I was applying was interesting. That was a job referred by one of my agents, at first the agent told me it is an assistant position in a hedge fund company, but when I received the job description after their confirmation, the post was a personal assistant in a private equity firm. The more interesting was the job duties are mainly to provide support to the CEO’s wife in regards to all of the household matters. I was like…what? That sounds a bit challenging for me because I think it’s basically a “ah 4” or 管家 pose and I dun think I know how to handle that. But then when the agent and told me the salary they are offering, I was like…..SURE, WHY NOT GIVE IT A TRY! I MIGHT BE A GOOD ASSISTANT TOO!!! Lol… so then today went to their office to have the interview and the interviewer was the CEO’s executive assistant. She’s a ABC and looks very ABC as well. She told me the job will be mostly like 80% providing support to the CEO’s wife and the FOUR kids they have. Basically I have to take care of everything from arranging household parties to hiring a chef from oversea to maybe calling all the bookstores in HK to just find a book. She said the family is big and the CEO’s wife will be demanding. The first thing I was thinking in my heart was…. What? The CEO is using the company’s resource to serve personal matters and deducting the expense! After the lady explained everything to me she asked me if this is something I’m looking for because she wants long term relationship and not somebody using it as a stepping stone. I think for a sec, then I told her very indirectly that this is really not something I’m looking for, ((although the salary is attractive))) because I know I dun like serving ppl and I can’t be good at doing it as well ((of cuz I didn’t say this to her, I just BS sth )) But when I was on the bus going home, I was thinking how big and complicated is the family? how can it be possible to have such TVB-drama-like position existed? how can they offer such a salary to hire a personal assistant to do those stuff?? And more important, I want to have a personal assistant like that too!!!

Eating in HK

I woke up quite sick today before going to Central to register my HKSI exam paper 1 with Ben, I'm not "blowing water" but touch wood I seem like seldom go to see doctor b/c of catching a cold in Canada, but i guess since the A/C is so strong in HK, i caught my 1st cold in many years, and the virus is strong too =_=. So on my way walking to the registry, received a SMS from Joyce saying that she's busy studying HKSI exam and tell me to call her when I'm free !! I was like.... wow what a co-incidence, I'm going to reg for the exam too.... so HKSI exam is some kind of securities licensing exam, basically u need that for any banking position.

After that me and Ben wondering around in Central looking for food, lots of cool restaurant in Central but either quite pricy for a lunch, or too uncomfy to sit and eat. So finally saw this attractive/fusion-type vietnamese restaurant and we want to give it a try. Since it's a saturday so we didn't have to wait for too long, just about 15 mins, lots of gwai lo inside.

We ordered Soda with Lime and Mint Leave for drink, charged $26, umm... it's tasty but feel quite kwon, b/c u can easily make it yourself. Then ordered this Toast with Shrimp paste, about $4x for 5 pcs, doesn't look very attractive but tasted quite good, maybe we were hungry too.

Then we ordered Vietnamese noodle with raw beef (for ben) and cooked beef (for me). I liked the soup base and the texture of the beef but i still think Bao Chao has the best soup base among all the vietnamese noodles i've tried. And they supply plate-less bean sprouts too :) well i wish if they can renovate or keep the place cleaner though....anyways........

well I guess in HK you have to pay at least $150+ for a meal (for two ppl) in order to have some more decent food. I'm sure you can eat a lot cheaper in HK but they all turned out quite shitty. in Van, most of the food priced the same, and they taste good too....

I miss the food in Van :P

10.08.2008

yes i'm still in HK

went back to HK almost a month already, dunno why time passed so fast !! i dun have much things to do actually but dunno why there's always something occupies you everyday. so the financial industry has been changed dramatically, the first thing appear on the news everyday is about the stock market, how did it go today, how much the index dropped or how the public react, i guess that's why ppl in HK participated so much in the stock market last year, b/c you're really soaking into those news everyday!

some little update w/ pics:

Clau is cleaning up, and Tommy is helping out~ FYI, Clau's hse was still empty and unorganized like b4, LOL

"Big gate crab" season is here!!! although i still haven't tried it yet........:(

double 9 festival: since my ancestors were original resident in our Village, our mourning place is a little bit diff than the ordinary HK ppl -- we really have to climb up the mountain to visit our ancestor!! and we saw this little guy jumping around.......haha

No.8 typhoon signal in force

I'm currently experiencing my 1st No.8 typhoon signal in HK!! woohoo~~

9.22.2008

market makeover

95% guys (and many girls too) who go back to HK for career are aiming to get a job in those so called "Investment banks". Like Ben la, Mike la, Roger la....etc etc.... but until today, this moment, SORRY GUYS, there're no more i-banks!!! what is Goldman Sacs? what is morgan stanley? sorry... they're all commercial banks now~ this is a historical moment, this is the end of an era. The market is so tough, how can we get a good job again.........?

9.19.2008

the real upper job environment in HK

had my 1st interview today for a personal assistant position with a executive director, at a growing company, listed on the stock exchange, at a Grade A office in Central, today! OMG, how can i be possible to have that qualifications to have that interview???? the headhunt guy really look up on me!!! -_-"

9.16.2008

my brand new day in HK

finally back in HK, it's still so freaking hot here even after mid-autumn festival, i'm relying on A/C everyday! So HK is still the same, nothing new shocked me and i feel so used to this place already, maybe since it's just 1.5 yrs since my last visit and i've seen many old faces here. However, this is not like the previous times, I need to start my new life here and i got lots of things that i need to take care of... like open new bank account ar, new phone ar, new computer ar, new bed ar....etc etc... all cost me $$$ and brain cells -____-!!! Had dinner w/ Mike and Simon and Ben last nite, it's both the 1st day of work for Mike and Ben for the new job, Mike alrdy said that he wants to return to Canada....well, Ben says this occassionally too, so i wonder when will be my first time to say it too. I guess it's the living condition that makes us the relaxing Canadians do not like about HK. We used to live in bigger houses with own space, driving cars, having coffee breaks every few hours in work, still having lots of leisure time everyday after work. That's why we would struggle here. For me, i would treat it as a trade-off, i am trading off my luxury lifestyle for money. It's not like Money is everything, but that's my ultimate goal for returning back to HK.

So lots and lots more i want to say to my friends when I leave, but as all u girls already knew i would cry like piggy head, i will save it in my heart. Well I think it's all Pizila's fault when she said "we should hug!!!" and hugged me....lol, anyways, i love the gift u girls made, that is our past and remind me all the happy moment we shared. But dun worry, We'll definitely have more in the future too.

9.12.2008

bye...我的小白

Just sold my car today, feel a little bit sad of selling my beloved 小白 but also feel relieved that i can get this done before I leave. The buyer is a lady working at SFU and her husband is a biological science professor of SFU as well. I showed my car to her in the afternoon, she made her decision very quickly and we finished the trade in the evening, she didn't even bargain with me! She said she's particularly looking for Protege 5 b/c her husband is also driving one, and she wants another one for her sons! Her son came too and is quite charming, LOL. Anyways... so my car is gone and ya... gonna start my car-less life in HK!! I am so used to driving here, I know i would feel painful in HK :(
So another farewell dinner w/ Lilian and terence tonite, then went bubble tea w/ Sing.... talked a lot about his big plan in regards to his restaurant, he said if i cannot find a job in HK, he'll save the GM position for me here~~ oh no I feel so touched... LOL. Hopefully the place is still here when I come back for visit next time! haha

09.09.08 update:

thanks my parents and all my lovely friends. I'm always the little girl of my parents and I know my departure would make them feel sad. Everything you girls do make me feel warm and be loved. You girls are so important to me that I can afford to lose Ben but i cannot afford to lose you all. Please take care yourself when I'm not in Canada. The distance is far but our hearts are always connected. I sincerely wish all of you the best of my luck and our friendship will be lasting forever.

Last day of work

Tuesday was supposed my last day to work in Primerica, but since it was the 1st day after the long summer holiday, so it was very busy and no time for me to clean up at all, so i went back again on Wednesday morning to finish off my stuff and packed up. Honestly I didn't feel sad of leaving at all b/c i always feel this is my home and i can always come back....

oh no... i've started to miss my life in Canada :(

悠閑生活之充實的一天

Met up with the girls for Arizia Warehouse sale at Yaletown. Same as past few years there wasn't much to see, maybe b/c it's already the 2nd last day so most of the better stuff were all gone alrdy. After that since Carrie got free tickets and the shuttle bus was just right across the street, we headed to Taiwan festival for food~ The food section was packed and the lineup for the Oyster pancakes was about 20 mins -_-. The most frustrated thing was we tried to buy some ice-cream and when it was our turn to pay, all ice-cream was sold out. Jess was freaked out b/c that uncle in front of us bought the last cup and said to us with smile "oh sorry no more la, come back tomorrow~ you can buy again tomorrow~~". and we were like... errr..... FINE!!! So then we went to 4th Ave for shopping. Me and Jess were so excited when we discovered a beauty store which carries all our loves~ hehe... Carrie was like... speechless~ At night we went Mongolio Sheep for hotpot and went to Sing K for 3 hrs!!! When we go home, we were like so amazed by how many things we did~ so happy and fullfilling ne :D

Farewell Dinner at the Cannery

Had my 1st farewell dinner with my Primerica buddies at the Cannery in Vancouver port. These guys just treated me like their little sister since day 1 i joined the branch. I felt so lucky that I always meet nice ppl and become good friends here in Canada. I wish I will be able to do that in HK too!! so I picked this restaurant b/c i want to have seafood, particulary fresh oysters~ Wanted to go to the Oyster House at yaletown but the seating wouldnt be very comfy so i picked this one instead. So when we arrived there, i was shocked they reserved such a VIP table with the sea view. With the sunset, the view was just stunning. Another surprised was when i opened the menu, they printed "the Cannery wishes Candy a safe trip!" on top of the menu. I was just felt so warm... I think these are just tiny little things they needa do, but this effort does make a big different on giving the good impression of the diners to the restaurant (((and we are willing to give much more tips la))). So the food of this restaurant was pretty good except for the fresh oysters was a bit disappointing. Its just weren't as good as Oyster House. In fact their pan-fried mussels was way better... my fav. dish of the nite.

Pan-fried Mussels: pan-fried with sausage, pine nuts, butter... lots of flavour and the mussels are so fat~~
Thank You my bros!!! ((although u wouldn't know this blog...lol))

HOLA~ We're back from Cancun !

It was so fun to travel with my girls. I really enjoyed it very much, because we are young, so energetic, so curious, and so desire to know more about the world. I wish I can travel with you girls more often in the future until we get old. Although I'm not like Simon that can go to many places always, i really want to commit to myself to travel to somewhere i haven't been to at least once a year starting my 25th years old bday.

Here's the itinerary for our Cancun Trip:

Day 1 : arrived 3:30pm, shuttled to our Hotel - Gran Melia Cancun, then went to Walmart to stock up and had our 1st Mex Food at a chain Mex restaurant

Day 2 : Left at 10:30am to Isla Mujeres, sightseeing and shopping on the island, lots of silver jewelry stores on the island. Then headed back to hotel and swim and kiss kiss Caribbean Sea. Had cup noodle at night, then clubbing at CoCo Bongo, very fun, back to hotel almost 3am

Day 3: Woke up late and went to La Isla Shopping Mall, had a brunch at a Mex restaurant in the mall. Nothing caught us there, then we went to Coral Market and Market 28. Dinner at a restaurant beside Market 28 for Yucantan food. Simon arrived Cancun and sneaked into our hotel at 2am.

Day 4: Go to Chichen Itza by ADO bus, took 4hrs40mins by 2nd class. Rainstorming when we arrived, but the rainstorm went away very quickly. A hot hot day for us. Went back by 1st class, took only 3hrs40mins. Dinner at Perico's, a Mex rest. with lots of music, dancing and entertainment.

Day 5: Had Tacos at bus station and go to Playa de Carmen by ADO bus, then took ferry to Island Cozumel for snorkerling. They called it the 2nd largest reef but b/c of the hurricane 3 yrs ago, not much thing left under the water. Then we hang around on the island and early dinner at a local Mex rest. recommended by the jewelry store until 7:30pm ferry. Back to Playa de Carmen and took ADO bus back to Cancun.

Day 6: go to Playa de Carmen by ADO bus again, got off in the middle of highway and go to Hidden World for Cenotes. Then took mini-Van to Tulum, hang around in the beach and ADO bus back to Cancun directly. Had Tacos for dinner, back to Hotel to get changed and went to Dady O until 2am.

Day 7: Had Pizza for lunch, then hang around in the beach in hotel. Swimming + Parasailing. Then went to Market 28 again for souvenirs. Had Tacos and Quesadillas for dinner.

Day 8: Had breakfast at bus station again, then went to Commerical Mexiciana, a local supermarket for shopping. Then went back to hotel and had a 1.5 hour last minute shopping at hotel. Took taxi to airport for the 5pm flight, and arrived YVR at about 10pm.

Something minor but notable about the trip:
- Step did massive research, she made our trip more affordable and fulfilling
- We realized Priz really can speak Spanish, lol
- It was sunny and hot everyday, I lost 3lbs, Carrie lost 5, Step lost 8 b/c we didn't really eat anything except Tacos and juices
- some locals request to take pics with us, yes, shouldn't it be vice-versa?!
- Our hotel had sudden waterpipe shut down, our A/C leaking, and they over-charged for mini-bar
- We spent all the money, and no extra tips for Taxi to airport so the driver was a bit mad, lol
- Simon slept at my room, on sofa
- It's very safe and convenience in Cancun Hotel Zone and downtown area, and the water are all clean
- we watch Olympics everynight at hotel, even we go back late and very tired
- most of the locals thought we're japanese, but when we say we're chinese, they will say "oh~ Beijing Olympics!"~ so yes i think beijing did a very great job and i'm proud of it

Good Memories:

2008-08-08

Woke up early and went to Aberdeen center with Ray to watch the opening ceremony of the Beijing Olympics. There were alrdy so many ppl when we get there, I didn't expect so many ppl would be like us and would like to show some nation pride. So the opening ceremony was really so fabulous, you're like so amazed by the performance and the flow and the creativity and our culture of the ceremony, i dunno how to describe that, but it's like....unbelieveable! i'm so proud of my country!!

BC Day Long Weekend

I guess this was the last official long weekend before the summer ends, also it was our last weekend b4 we're going to Cancun! lots of activities going on and the weather was soooo good too. I had my 1st and only fireworks watching this year at Alfred's hse, the best location i've ever been for watching fireworks ((although the fireworks itself was a bit disappointing :< )) Their apartment is small yet cozy, i really enjoyed my nite at their place very much! I hope I'll be able to watch at their place again next yr la.....

So the next day, i challenged myself to drive to DT on this busy, crowded, lots-of-road-blocked sunday for the pride parade! I was really struggled b4 i go b/c i didn't really wanna drive but i dun want to take bus either. So... i made it~ although i parked far far away... haha~ the parade was exciting, lots of gay man... holy smoke why so many hot guys are gay? b/c girls cannot satisfy them? that's really disappointing! after that we cancelled our original plan to hiking on grouse mountain ((as expected)) and went to Metro keep shopping for our trip~ hopefully the trip will turn out great, cuz us girls haven't been travelling together for a long time and i'm leaving la!!! :(

so free :P

嗯...so relaxing, life in 溫哥華真係好嘆啊!

grandma's back to HK

grandma and biu yee ma went back to HK yday midnite after staying in Van with us for more than a month~ so glad that they didn't feel bored of this city and they enjoyed the food and weather and environment here very much. Especially the food, they think it's so diversified, fresh and delicious here. Also they were so lucky, it didn't rain for a day ever since their arrival~ last time my grandparent came here like around March time, they were so annoyed by the continuous rainy days.... well, who don't !!

fruit picking @ one of her frd's hse (they even went to pick blueberries at another frd's hse...) my grandma was having so much fun!!!

in front of our new home.... :)

7.23.2008

life in new home

lived in new house for few days alrdy, everything is so far so good, except there's still lots of stuff stuck at the garage and I would never be able to find the things i want. I guess the "living condition" will be much better after my grandma and biu yee ma are gone... so the best part of moving to richmond is I saved more than an hour everyday on the traffic. I just need about 6-7 mins to drive to office, thats really the most impressive part. But on the other hand, my dad needs extra time to go to work lor... poor dad :(

so even i moved to Rich, i still go Bonsor to play badminton tonight. As usual I had a lot of fun since a lot of good players there. Oh tonight somebody who speaks Cantonese asked if I'm Korean, I said why? and they said... b/c i am so white...lol. You know when i was small i hate ppl say I'm so white, b/c i thought it's a bad thing!! but now, of cuz i know it's a compliment.... Okay i hope i will be able to keep the "whiteness" after our Cancun trip! well, my pat pat is still not "recovered" from the sunburnt from the thailand trip anyways...........

7.19.2008

搬家了

I'm officially saying byebye to 4781 Frances St and become a Richmond-ian ! Well I was just like a Richmond-ian even i didn't live here anyways, but I still feel a bit sad because I'm so far away from my friends and my childhood memory in the neighbourhood and my house. But no matter how i feel, I tell myself that ppl always gotta move forward, so that we can improve. All the good things will be kept in my memory. :)

by the way, 10 out of 10 ppl say we have so much stuff in our house, i.e. CLOTHINGS, SHOES, BAGS and particulary KITCHENWARESSSSS... well ya... we did have a very hard time to stuff all these things into our new house.......見到都頭痛 :(

7.18.2008

Cancun, Mexico

Thanks Steph for all the planning, finally, we're coming, YEAH!
really wanna travel to somewhere before i leave to HK,
Mexico is a good choice, and since Cancun is so famous~
well gotta prepare LOTS of sunscreen and protections......
dun wanna get sun burnt like i did in Thailand again!

The Hotel we'll be staying....gran melia cancun :)

One of the weekends in Summer

really a very fun(ny) day today! b/c of the good weather, we decided to go to Lucarno Beach to BBQ, it's the beach beside the Jericho and Spanish Banks... our "ideal" plan was to go in the morning and find a spot, then we'll play around the Beach and start our Barbecue for lunch. But of course, that's only a plan, we ended up going there at 2ish, then we found out there's no barbecue stove at the park, well, even if they have a stove, we forgot to bring the charcoal too, LOL. So we switched our plan, we bought lunch at the beach, and wait Justin to off from skool and buy a stove and bring the Charcoal to us :) We're really smart. so finally he arrived with a branch new stove at around 5ish and starting to start the fire, but u know what, we couldn't start the fire, that was pretty stupid, so he went back to his home and get some camp fuel to help. Our backup plan at that moment was to first dine at Milestones, and go back on Canada Day instead. But with the help of the camp fuel, we finally could Barbecue for dinner, and the food was too yummy to make us all forget how stupid we were. HAHAHAHAHA......
Carrie and Jess said they dun want to stand side by side with Pizila
Hey i like this pic..... never take a pic w/ Sunset

life after exam

so finally wrote my exam last Saturday after 3 weeks of studying. The exam wasn't too bad, but didn't have enough time was the biggest challenge, couldn't finish my exam in the morning session, so stupid....hopefully what i've completed was enough to get a pass la.

but no matter what, i feel a relief and go back my relaxing life :)

so grandma and cousin and biu yee ma are in town, since my cousin will only stay for 2 weeks, so my parents are so busy guiding them to diff attractions everyday, holy they went to so many places in a week! like Whisler, Victoria, Nanaimo, Stanley Park, Granville Island and Fisherman Wharf already!! and will go to Banff next week.... i want to go too :(....... but since I just had my 3 weeks leave, i am not even dare to ask my boss to spare me a day off anymore 自己都覺得自己太過份 :P

6.12.2008

is this Saturday

1 day 1 day closer to exam date....
started to feel the pressure and a bit nervous
was kinda relax but dunno why started to feel stressful these 2 days
library became my 2nd home!!

during this kind of tight schdule, Nianci called and talked for 3 hours yesterday!!! my airtime all finished for this month la...........................

6.06.2008

prep course @ DT

so today is the last day for my one week prep course @ DT~ 9-5 everyday, sucking all the material into my head, which is nice b/c it saves my time to review them myself. And i actually feel more confident after refreshing my memory~ although the passing rate for 1st time writer is about 40%, hopefully i can still pass it at one shot and get back to my leisure life =/

so to balance my study life, i bought a pair of shoe at HR.....
and Ben was speechless.... :P

5.30.2008

on study leave

started my 3 weeks study leave until mid of June!! ((although gotta back to work for one day yday.. -_-")) so nice to go back to student's life~ although i dun like studying but really feel no pressure (yet) and relaxing!! called out priz and jess for lunch + afternoon tea like everyday~ hehe... really can't stand the boredom of studying and the loneliness of having lunch myself~ :P and i really want to treasure my time with the girls more before i leave la....

other than that, i have turned on my turbo and go to library everyday~ will have the 1 week exam preparatory class next week at downtown again, yeah can have lunch with the girls too~

thanks for the opening of Caffe Artigiano, the cappuccino kept me conscious
and thanks for the green trees, looking at them made me feel less tired :)

5.17.2008

Happy Birthday to our Sweetie Priz

what a beautiful day today~ woke up by Step in the morning and went to dance class in DT..... the instructor treated us like the student from advanced class and the ppl were in fact quite not beginner today, so the true noob --> 3 of us were quite lost from the beginning til the end... holy~ then had a quick lunch and met up priz and jess then went to Horseshoe Bay for our boating event to celebrate Priz's bday!! we boat from 5-7pm, very beautiful weather and very warm as well. We were so excited to be on the sea, it was a very good experience and we're wishing to go again before i leave~~~

5.16.2008

5-12 earthquake

I just want to say, I feel really really sad when I watch the news everyday. The pictures from newspapers are so real that it makes me feel so helpless and I dunno what can i do except donating a very limited amount of money. I highly respect all the soldiers who walk 30+ hrs to the villages carrying all the supplies. When ppl ask them do they feel tired and they just said they don't feel tired at all, because they're soldiers and they're serving the country. I highly respect all the doctors, nurses, reporters, volunteers who ignore everything and non-stoply doing their jobs at the disaster sites. I also respect our premier Wen Jia Bao from the bottom of my heart, he's such a great leader that i'm very glad that our country can have him. I can't ask god why would these kinds of disasters happen in China every few months but it once again telling me that human being are so minimal, and i have so little power that when i want to contribute something to my country, i don't have anything at all.

5.11.2008

Video Conference

today's Ben's bday! feel so bad that i miss his bday again, last yr i was in HK so couldn't celebrate w/ him as well... but he said it's okay cuz the whole Hong Kong is celebrating with him already (((cos of the torch passing ceremony today...))) ok... that's fine, lol.

so yday was quite an exciting day cuz our branch was so honoured to have a video conference with a top fund manager - K C LEE from Fidelity in Hong Kong. He's actually one of the most powerful fund managers in Fidelity cuz of his past experience and performance in Asia. We have invited about 20 of our highest net-worth clients of our branch to attend this private event in downtown to have a live video conference with him. This video con was also the first time in BC. So the time that Fidelity has scheduled was only half an hour because he actually has to prepare for the stock market after the video con, but he seemed like getting pretty excited as he goes on so he ended up overran for another half an hour. He is not a very outstanding presentor ((normal for any analyst)) but his presentation was very informative indeed. I love it the most on how he talks about the appreciation of RMB and what a big mistake the monetary policy in China now. Aargggg I wish Ben can achieve his goal to be a fund manager one day too. haha, a birthday wish for him :D

快過買por菜

so "faster than buying a veggie", we've bought a townhouse in richmond la!! It's on Granville and Garden City in Richmond, my mom and dad kinda loved the hse at the first sight because it was very well kept by the original owner and most importantly there's a park right across the street from our door, so the view is very opened and not so crowded feeling like the other townhse. My boss was so right, he said some ppl like new hse, some like old hse, some ppl like this style and some like another style, but only (good) VIEWS no one would hate. So the buying process was quite smooth except the owner was the chairman of the complex's committe, AND he's a caucasian so he was quite firm on the price. Unfortunately he's living in Rich and dealing with Chinese, so of course we did some bargaining! :P So we haven't decided the moving date yet, but i guess it'll be around end of June or July since we're not really in a hurry.

here's the hse listed on MLS if u want to take a look:

Weekend

another weekend!! has been very busy searching new houses after we sold our hse that quickly. Every saturday and sunday we go to see houses... so tiring. But at the same time i'm hoping that i can have my own hse one day too. So went to Ray's hse to BBQ and celebrate Carrie's bday last week... had a lot of fun but i guess i'll have to recap later la...

4.16.2008

SOLD

My house is sold !!! in less than a week !!! so unbelieveable.... the buyer is the first one to come and see, place an offer on the same night, then removed subject today!!! how fast... heard that they're Italian "big land owner", guess they'll rent our 2 levels out seperately ba?! but so glad that they let us stay until end of July, so we dun have to rush and look for a place.

Bye bye 4781 Frances Street..... I'm gonna miss my neighbourhood !!!

vitaminV.ca

so when we were shopping at holt renfrew for the dior spray foundation few weeks ago, there was an unattractable promotion counter for the vancouver-based beauty website - vitaminV.ca. Me and Carrie were invited to register for the website and subscribed to the lucky draw. Since we were waiting for Jess to come and had no better things to do, we both filled out the form and walked away. So few days later, i received an email saying that I've won the gift basket promoted on that day!! i was like... another junk mail?? so i asked Carrie if she also receives it, but she said NO wor.... so i was thinking that i've really won that thing. Since both of Carrie and I didn't even realize there was a gift basket, we had no idea what will that be. So after a week or so I finally received the prize~ It was a surprise to me coz it had quite many things inside, and all of them are from the makeup school/artists from Europe or US~ and since I love to *buy* makeup/skincare/haircare very much, it's really a nice gift to me! love it :)

Moving

We are planning to move! possibly to a townhouse in Richmond. Already started looking around and lining up appointments for showing. There's no special reason for my moving. In fact my mom just wants to sell the house and buy a smaller one to get some cash back, so there'll be less financial burden on me and my dad for her early happy retirement. Well we're quite struggling when deciding where should we move to, cos we have too much things to considerate, i.e. driving distance to work.

Hope everything goes smoothly la, although it's still very early to say... i'll miss the days living in burnaby, but too bad life must move on :(

Diorskin AirFlash Spray Foundation

our big discovery @ Dior Holt Renfrew !!

I rmb when we were taking the make up class years ago, the instructor said airbrush foundation are usually used on stage because it is so thick for daily use, but after 3 of us girls tried this dior airflash spray foundation, we fell in love with it!! it's so user-friendly, even for us the make-up noobs...just to to spray in a "Z" down your face and then a "W" across. Also the effect was so impressive, no matter our freckles, pimples or scars, all imperfections are gone invinsibly!!! but girls rmb to put some primer first, then the effect will be more long-lasting and natural.

Avril Lavigne - The Best Damn Tour 2008 (Vancouver BC)

worked 9am to 5pm today since i had to go watch Avril Lavigne concert tonight~ Rushed back home after work, get changed and headed down to GM Place. We parked our car at the event parking which is also supervised by terence's company, so we parked for free and it's so close to GM place~ the show didn't start until like 8pm and it was warmed up by a band called "boys like girls". their warm up last at least 45 minutes lor, i was like who the hell are they... and every song they sing is just like the previous one -_-. then had an intermission becuz they needed to set up the stage for Avril, and finally Avril came out at 9:30pm! when Avril came out everyone was so excited, the teenage girls behind us yelled so fucking loud and at a super high pitch and it made me headache!!!! also i guess 75% of the audience were teenage girls and accompanied by parents. Avril performed pretty good but it's just like the one we saw last time at the bestbuy concert except the stage and the clothing were more fancy this time. Also she just sang like 1 hr and 20 mins, i guess its kinda short lor,(((compared to those concerts i saw in HK))) and she didn't have encore part :P after the concert we lined up to buy souvenirs~ haha... Ray bought an Avril Tee and a Flag~ then after ramen we picked up Terence and went to Starlight Casino to meet with Lilian and Ernest. So after spending like 3 hrs at the Casino, I won like $20, so lucky~~

King Crab Season is Back!

Had my first round of Alaska King Crab last week at 又一村 with my dad and his coworkers! it wasn't really good becos the garlic they used was those pre-packaged one from Costco!!! the kitchen is so lazy... i was so disappointed. Tonight went to 金玉滿堂 with Alfred and Aki..etc, to try again!! we 5 ppl ordered 3 appetizers, king crab "3 eats", and also peking duck "2 eats". SO FULL.... thought we couldn't finish but ended we cleaned them all~ and this time was much better, no matter the taste or the honesty on the weight of the crab. but one bad thing was since the kitchen was so busy, they refused to make 拔絲香蕉 for us, and treated us 雷沙湯丸 for compensation instead. :P so i guess i'm done for the king crab season this year, wanted to go with the girls but seems like it's really hard to find a time to group them all~ i guess everyone's busying on sth ne~

2.19.2008

one way ticket

can't believe Ben is gone!! after 3 farewell parties in a row Ben finally left today!! when i see ppl saying goodbye to him, i really feel a bit upset and my heart seems like breaking into pieces, not for the reason that we gonna seperate but seems like everything will be different from now on. I also feel like i'm leaving soon too... But i am trying to use a "normal heart" to face it, becos we want to think positive and treat it like a milestone for both of us. I'm also so glad that we have so many good frds here whom always love us, i think we have been very successful in this area already. Hopefully Ben can find a job he likes in HK and 唔好俾人蝦..... :(

2.07.2008

since my 2 bosses are very traditional, so they liked it very much !! haha...

Annual Kick off event

Today is our 2008 annual kick off event~ time passes so fast and it's like my 4th yr to attend already! so Ray got the gold coin last year, this year Terence got another prize from the lucky draw too~ also everyone gets at least 1-2 gifts! although it's not anything very expensive, it's just a "yee tou" and we wished everyone to be happy for the CNY!!

Went home to take a break and get changed after our lunch @ Pearl Castle, Aki went to join us too, it's always so funny how Terence uses his chinese accent to talk to Aki... haha~ So at night went to dinner with Lilian and family. Then Terence and Ray joined us to poker at their house. So funny Sunny copied those professional poker player to wear sunglasses while playing..... ban sai yeh~ haha... played until 4:30am and went home Zzzzz immediately.... what a long day~
